6 month check-up!

See...I'm getting better...two blogs in one week (what is bad though is while writing this, I am just putting off doing laundry...ick)!!

Barry, Hailey, & I had such an enjoyable weekend...one of the first weekends in a LONG time we just stood still for a bit!! Being that it barely got above freezing all weekend (thanks to "global warming" right??)...we stayed indoors, watched movies, played games, and did not venture too far from the fire place, which kept a steady roar all weekend! Next weekend we're back to our gypsy-like routine and headed to College Station. Barry's mom (Granny) hasn't gotten to see Hailey since before Christmas so we've got LOTS of new things to show her!! :)

Hailey had her 6-month Well Visit today!! It seems that in the past 2-3 weeks she has completely changed from a "baby" to a little girl!! She's 14lbs, 14 oz and 27 1/4 inches. As I mentioned before, she can now sit up on her own, she talks up a storm, and now she has her FIRST TOOTH!! Also, wine glasses now fear her...if placed within a body-length distance from her, she WILL find a way to knock it down...or just about anything else for that matter!! I'm thinking about taking a "ropes course" training or a juggling class just to make sure my reflexes are in perfect tact for what is to come!! She's soo happy and sweet... here is a little video of her in action! :)

There is one thing that has been freaking me out...Barry says I worry too much...but hey, that's my job as the mom right...if it were up to him there would never be anything wrong with anything!! I've noticed that every once-in-a-while Hailey's pupils are not even (her left pupil appears slightly larger than the right)...but in direct light they both dialate perfectly. I brought this to her Ped's attention today and he agreed that the left looked a bit larger, that most likely it is nothing to worry about b/c her pupils react to light perfectly and she follows objects with her eyes perfectly...but he was going to check with a pediatric optimologist to see if they would like me to have a consult. Anyway, I'm praying that I'm just worrying for nothing but either way, prayers are welcome...mostly for her health but maybe a few for my sanity!! Ahh motherhood!!

Well I believe that is all for now...oh wait one more thing....GO COWBOYS!!!

Love,

The Fords

Past 6 Months...

Ok so I've been really bad about keeping up with this for the past 6 months (since Hailey was born) so let me see if I can make a quick recap:

July 6, 2009:

Hailey Elizabeth Ford made her entrance into this world at 4:48pm, weighing 6lbs, 4oz and measuring 20 1/2" long! Because Barry & I have different bloodtypes, and she ended up with his (causing my body to fight off her system in utero), she had some complications when she first came out...mainly severe jaundice. She spent 7 days in the NICU which was a very rough 7 days for new mommy!! BUT...luckily this is not something that will continue to be an issue...she recovered from it and it's over and she's perfect!! She fit right in with this little bunch we have!!

Since then I've had a blast being a mommy!! Oh yeah...that whole going back to work thing didn't happen seeing that I was told a week into my maternity leave that I didn't have a job to go back to...damn economy...or shady business...but either way it worked out that I've been able to spend every day watching my little angel grow!! Barry also had a shift in employment when the "family business" went south...he is now working for Southwest Construction as a Field Supervisor. He really loves the company and the people he works with ...and other than having to get up at 5am, there's a great growth potential for him...especially because he is well liked! In fact, we are praying that a promotion may be in his near future...so keep your fingers crossed!! He really deserves it!
So...Hailey is now 6 months old (officially tomorrow) going on 18 it seems like!! She's sitting up on her own, rolling over, "inch-worming" (not crawling yet), and babbling up a storm!! It's only a matter of time before we won't be able to keep up with her or keep her quiet!! :) The "sleeping" thing is our biggest challenge...we can't seem to get her to sleep in her own crib...our own fault but now we're working on fixing it!! She's definitely a Mama's girl!!
We have tons of pictures (too many to upload here) so my next task will be to update her shutterfly page!!

Love to all,
Lindsay & Barry
